Pradeep Sangapala<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Pradeep Sangapala, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta, actively contributes to the interdisciplinary research initiatives of the Urban Environment Observatory. He has been integral to the Observatory\u2019s commitment to understanding the complex socio-spatial dynamics that shape urban spaces. His work encompasses a range of projects focused on critical urban issues, including affordable housing, decolonial and inclusive urbanism, human rights-based municipal planning, and the settlement experiences of refugees across Canadian cities. He has primarily contributed through research design, data collection, and analysis (mainly employing qualitative methodologies), as well as by disseminating research findings via co-authored publications and presentations.<\/p>\n

Neelakshi Joshi (2020-2022)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Neelakshi Joshi is a social scientist, urban planner and architect interested in the social dimension of sustainability. She is currently a post-doctoral research fellow working on the Future Energy Systems project at the Urban Environment Observatory where she focuses in municipal transitions to low-carbon pathways in Canada. She obtained her PhD from the Dresden Leibniz Graduate School in Germany where her research dealt with the risks of rapid unplanned urban development in the Himalayas. Previously she has worked at the World Resource Institute as a consultant for sustainable transport and at the\u00a0Auroville Earth Institute<\/a>, UNESCO Chair for Earth Construction (2010-12) specializing in low cost and sustainable earth based construction. Her research interests include risks, sustainability, governance and urban transformations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
