Registration<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Please register to confirm your attendance by March 31st <\/strong>latest. To support the Geobiology Society\u2019s goal of promoting early career scientists, professors are strongly encouraged to bring at least one student or postdoctoral fellow.\u00a0Geobiology 2025<\/em><\/strong> has strived to offer the lowest registration possible for hosting an event in Banff. The registration costs are below.<\/p>\n

Early Bird Prices:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students & PDFs: $300 CAD<\/em><\/p>\n

Professors & Professionals: $450 CAD<\/em><\/p>\n

Deadline: February 14th 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Late Registration (extra $50 CAD):<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students & PDFs: $350 CAD<\/em><\/p>\n

The registration fee will include the icebreaker party on May 20th (pizza, beer, and bowling), breakfasts, lunches, coffee breaks and snacks (May 21-23), as well as refreshments (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) at the daily lightning talk sessions. We will not be facilitating online attendance this year.<\/p>\n

If you are an international attendee and require a visa to enter Canada, please contact Kurt Konhauser (kurtk@ualberta.ca<\/em>) with your full name<\/strong> and mailing address<\/strong>. Please put the subject of the email as \"Geobiology 2025: Visa Request<\/strong>\".<\/p>\n

Abstract Submission<\/h3>\n

All attendees are encouraged to submit an abstract for a lightning talk. There will be a small number of 20 minute talk slots available for which priority will be given to PDFs and pre-tenure faculty.<\/p>\n

Submit abstracts by April 25th, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A link to the abstract template will be sent out after registrations are complete on March 31st.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abstracts should be no more than 400 words. All abstracts will then be compiled into an online conference proceedings volume that will be made publicly available on both the conference website and the Geobiology Society website.<\/p>\n

Lightning Talks<\/h3>\n

For the Geobiology 2025 conference, early career researchers will have the opportunity to present their research via a Lightning Talk format, rather than the archaean-aged way of hardcopy posters. This decision was made in an effort to be more environmentally conscious, with the hopes that it will facilitate conversations while giving individuals the chance to practice presentation skills in a more informal manner.<\/p>\n

Presenters who want to give a Lightning Talk will provide an electronic version of their presentation in powerpoint format<\/strong> to geobiology2025@gmail.com<\/strong> by May 6th 2025<\/strong>, for a brief 3-minute talk. The focus of this presentation should be on summarising the key details of your study. It can follow the format of a few slides, digital poster, or visual aid of choice. Following their Lightening talk, presenters will be able to dive in deeper to the content of their research on their personal computer or iPad with individuals who are interested in learning more about their work. Break rooms will also be available immediately after talks to facilitate these discussions in a more relaxed environment. Attendees will be allowed to drop in and out of talks as they please!<\/p>\n
