This is very unfortunate as the levy \u2014 which has been in place for almost two years now \u2014 hasn\u2019t damaged the economy or cost jobs.\u201d <\/em><strong>Joshua Buck<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-link is-provider-edmonton-journal\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/edmontonjournal.com\/opinion\/columnists\/opinion-its-time-to-accept-that-albertas-carbon-tax-works\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/environmentaldefence.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Alberta-Carbon-Pricing-Report-EDC.pdf\">https:\/\/environmentaldefence.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Alberta-Carbon-Pricing-Report-EDC.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Buck arrives at these conclusions by considering economic\ndata for 2017, what they found was that in 2017 key economic indicators, including\ngross domestic product (GDP), weekly earnings, and the unemployment rate. What they\nfound was that in 2017 Alberta grew at a rate of 4.9 per cent, wages were up, and\nunemployment was down. Conclusion? The carbon levy did not hinder Alberta\u2019s\neconomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\nam inclined to agree with this view.
