Prospective Students

If you are passionate about solving scientific problems in marine invertebrate ecology or paleoecology, particularly the topics of biotic interactions, functional morphology, community ecology, or conservation, then my lab might be the right place for you to do your graduate degree.  To give you a better feel for my interests and to read about some of the projects that we currently are working on, visit our Projects page.

I will consider applicants with degrees in either the Earth Sciences or Biology.  Prospective applicants should email me at:
lindseyrleighton@gmail.com

For applications for the next academic year, applicants should be communicating with me by September of the preceding year, i.e., if you are applying for Fall 2020 admission, you must contact me by September, 2019.

Your email should include:

  • your vita,
  • an explanation of why you want to join my lab, including your specific interests.

Applicants for the PhD should also include:

  • reprints of their work published in refereed journals,
  • a proposed PhD project.  I am not guaranteeing that this project will be the subject of your PhD dissertation but I want to see your interests and how you think.  A paragraph is sufficient.

If you are applying for a PhD, your MS thesis should have been on a topic in ecology or paleontology.

For further information on the details of applying to U of A, visit the Dept. of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences website.
