The Digital Imaging Facility (DIF) is a state of the art technology centre staffed with experienced technicians and the latest imaging and graphics hardware and software. DIF is the EAS department’s laboratory for creating posters, maps, diagrams, and for scanning large documents, slides, thin sections, transparencies.
DIF is located in ESB 2-27 (Earth Sciences Building) and is open to graduate students, staff, and faculty from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. DIF staff are available during regular business hours to support individuals using the facility.
Photography
In DIF you can take pictures of your samples with a digital camera with macro lenses and/or a digital microscope (Tagarno) at up to 500x magnification.
Printing
Printing services includes: printing, binding, and laminating, as well as large format printing (posters). Printing is allowed from any EAS network.
Scanning
DIF has 3 types of special scanners: a thin section scanner (slide scanner), flatbed scanners (up to 12 x 18 inches), and a large document scanner (up to 42 inches in width).
