2014 Field Trip to the Burgess Shale

On September 6th, 2014, twenty four P.S. Warren Members hiked 22km and 850m of elevation to visit the world renowned Burgess Shale site. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its exceptionally well preserved 505 million year old marine fossils.

We would like to thank the Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation and our guides for a fun and educational day!

Also, thank you to the sponsors of the field trip: Shell Enhanced Learning Fund (SELF) and the University of Alberta’s Interdepartmental Science Students’ Society (isss.ca)
