Claudia Althoen

I joined the Watershed Science and Modelling Laboratory (WSML) at the University of Alberta in the Dept. of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences as a M.Sc. student in September 2020. In 2019, I completed my B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

My research in the WSML is focused on application of process-based watershed models to study the relationships between glacial melt and water quality constituents in the Athabasca watershed. The overarching goal is to determine what changes are happening as a result of climate change-induced glacial melt in this region, whether or not including certain variables is necessary for glacial melt modeling, and to use this information in future research to more accurately model glacial melt and connected downstream processes in the Athabasca watershed.
