Marcos Cordeiro’s research focuses on hydrological modelling in agricultural landscapes. He is collaborating with the Watershed Science and Modelling Laboratory team on the project “Predicting water related risks and opportunities for Alberta’s beef industry”, funded by AAF-ALMA. Marcos has worked on the interface between the beef and the crop modelling components of the project, calculating feed production using Census of Agriculture numbers and relating it to animal production and management strategies. This beef cattle feed demand analysis at high spatial resolution enabled the estimation of feed surplus/deficit at specific producing areas, which supports not only the crop modelling efforts but also economic analysis of feed transfers between different regions in Alberta.
